BREAKFAST
We think your stay at Bank House should be a leisurely affair and we offer breakfast from 8am to 9.45am, but with earlier breakfasts available by arrangement. We ask guests to complete a breakfast order the evening before. This makes breakfast service run more smoothly and also helps to cut down on waste.
Breakfast is served in the main dining room or on the terrace just outside. All our breakfasts are freshly prepared from the finest quality, locally sourced ingredients. We are happy to cater for special dietary requirements, please discuss them with us well in advance of your arrival.
Start with cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt and fruit juice (the apple juice is pressed from apples picked at our allotment) followed by your choice of bacon, sausages, black pudding, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and eggs together with homemade toast. You will be offered a selection of teas or a cafetiere of fresh ground coffee.
Afternoon treat
Gerry loves to bake and this has gone down very well with guests. There’s not much to beat a cup of tea and a slice of lemon drizzle or a yummy brownie when you first arrive or when you get back from a hilly walk. The cake is sometimes substituted by a cream tea but if you have a particular favourite please let us know in advance.
EATING OUT IN BISHOP'S CASTLE
Bank House is just a short walk from a number of cafes and pubs serving food so you have no need to drive. These are some of our favourites:
The Castle Hotel – full gastro pub menu of light or full meals served in the restaurant or in their stunning garden overlooking the town and with views to the hills. Some great afternoon teas available too. Open every day for lunch or dinner. 01588 638403

The Three Tuns Inn – historic and very popular pub serving the full range of Three Tuns beers brewed next door. Excellent varied menu and a daily specials board. Open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner and for lunch only on Sunday. 01588 638797

EATING IN – BOOKING A CATERER OR PRIVATE CHEF
Groups staying at Bank House often like to organise a special meal by booking caterers or a private chef. As a consequence of the Covid pandemic a number of these companies now also offer a pick up or delivery service of some exceptional three course meals.
We’ve gathered together some ideas for local suppliers who would be happy to discuss catering or providing a private chef for your group.
The Chai Shop
As well as running the Chai Shop (see above) Tahira Paul can provide a full catering service for groups at Bank House. A three course Indian banquet served buffet style is available at £30 per person. This has been a very popular option for groups at Bank House and is highly recommended. Even if you don’t book a full meal make sure you call in to the Chai Shop to grab some of Tahira’s divine bhajis. 07790 194782 (contact by text advised)
If you are looking for a real treat or planning a special celebration we can recommend Evatt & Bullock Co. If you opt for the private dining service they will work with you to create a fabulous bespoke menu with a minimum charge of £60.00 per head plus an optional 12.5% service charge. Their team cook, serve and clear away for you and use only the highest quality ingredients they can source.
They also offer a three course delivery menu with bistro style of cooking which comes with very simple re-heating instructions. Available for delivery Wednesday to Friday for £22.50 per head. 07443 629360
Shed38 is run by Katrina Collins and offers catering for family gatherings, dinner parties, garden parties, supper club nights and weddings - formal or informal. Katrina's food is inventive and always delicious. They also offer hampers including breakfast hampers with all local produce and gift hampers filled with local produce such as honey, preserves, biscuits, and Bara Brith made with Monty's beer.
Owned and run by Charlotte Everall, Get Gourmet Catering offer fine dining dinner parties, canapé parties, ready meals, wedding receptions and can provide a private chef and butler service
Melissa Rees (Milly) offers top quality private catering service specialising in seasonal, local produce. She also provides cookery tuition and workshops for individuals or groups.
Mr T's Pies Local artisan handmade savoury pies made by a local chef just outside of Bishop's Castle, available for delivery any evening with 24 hours notice. Perfect for those evenings when a pie is just the answer
Tallulah’s Catering is run by Tallulah DeVaux-Gaffney and is based in based in Bishop’s Castle. They offer delicious and creative catering for special occasions and events.
Other takeaway options: The local choice includes Chinese, Bangladeshi and fish and chips all located at the top of town - just off Market Square.
