GREEN POLICY
What are we doing at Bank House to save energy and waste?
Tourism is not a green activity but accommodation providers across the world are finding ways to cut energy use and save resources. At Bank House this includes:
-
Heating and hot water provided via bio mass (a wood pellet boiler with fuel from an accredited source)
-
LED lighting throughout the property.
-
Constant circulation of hot water – no need to run the tap to get hot water through
-
We ask B&B guests to order cooked breakfast – you are only served what you have ordered which cuts down on food waste.
-
Refillable bottles of tap water are provided in bedrooms
-
We provide toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash and moisturiser) in 250 ml refillable bottles. Individual soap tablets are still provided but sadly are plastic wrapped
-
We try to keep our waste to a minimum. All glass, paper, card, tins and hard plastics are separated from waste and recycled. Uncooked vegetable wasted is composted.
-
Towels are changed on request rather than daily – additional towels are always available in the room so you won’t run short
-
An external electric socket is available for EV charging although this is currently limited – a full EV charging point is being planned
-
We shop locally with our butcher, local co-op and farmer’s market and also use produce from our allotment.
